On Thursday, April 8th, the High School students joined Rabbi Houben’s Zoom room for our annual Yom HaShoah ceremony. The ceremony started off with a montage of meaningful pictures from the Holocaust. This was followed by small group discussions about dilemmas that people faced during the war. Each group’s teacher-led them through the stories of 3 specific situations, and students were asked to reflect on those stories by putting themselves in the situations and asking themselves what they would have done. After everyone returned to the main session, students and teachers lit candles in memory of those who perished in the Holocaust and survivors who have since passed away. Overall, the ceremony served as a reminder to continue having discussions about the Holocaust and to never forget.
