Oneg at Rabbi Houben’s

On the first Friday night of the school year, Judaic Studies Instructional Team Leader Rabbi Allan Houben hosted an oneg in his backyard for the High School. Students met new Shinshinim Noa Ben Shimol and Ori Winestate and B’not Sherut Hadar and Yosefa Lehrer. They also got to spend some time with Judaic Studies teachers Moreh Eilon Kapach and Morah Galia Magen outside of the classroom. Students enjoyed an assortment of refreshments as they socialized with each other while the event kicked off. After chatting and getting refreshments, students returned to their seats for the beginning of the programming. To begin, Jemima Schoen and Eli Cohen delivered Divrei Torah. Then STUCO ran an activity based on the newlywed game, calling up pairs of people and asking them facts about their partners to see who knew their friend best. As the game tapered out, the teachers led slow shira in honor of the upcoming holidays. Students such as Micah Feit Mann were glad to stay late through the night as they enjoyed this “great bonding experience for everyone.” The oneg provided a warm welcome back to school.
