Freshmen Head to Quarantine

Ella Goldstein

On Tuesday, January 19, Head of School Rabbi Ari Leubitz informed parents and staff that a freshman tested positive for COVID-19 after a positive test was reported by a member of his immediate family. Although the student hadn’t attended school in-person since the previous Thursday, the ninth grade — and some sophomores who were determined to have been possibly exposed — were instructed to switch to remote learning for the rest of the week. AJA required a negative test before they could return on Monday, January 25, eleven days after any potential exposure.

In the email, which High School Instructional Team Leader Ms. Franeen Sarif forwarded to the rest of the student body, Rabbi Leubitz reminded everyone to “remain vigilant” and to follow the protocols to the fullest extent. No further cases have been reported at publishing time. We wish the student and his family a refuah shleima!
