Leaving AJA

A Poem

Gabe Weiss

In school it has been easy, to live a pious life,

Like celebrating holidays, without much stress or strife.

However in the future, for us to be devout,

We may be viewed as different, and unfortunately stand out.

Our desire to matriculate, into the bigger world,

Should not prevent our faith, from being so unfurled.

We are warned that in college, we may feel unfounded hate,

But we should not fear, and in its face maintain a steady gait.

There is no doubt our heritage, is a blessing – not a curse,

And failing to stand up for it, will only make things worse.

So go forth without fear, into the great unknown,

And do not waiver or give up, until your seeds are sown.

Remember what you’ve learned, while here at AJA,

And never be in doubt, that G-d will lead your way!
